Happy International Women’s Day everyone! It’s so great to see my favorite ladies popping out on the Internet today. Before I start this post for RAINBOZ, I just want to quickly iterate that your feminism MUST be intersectional. It MUST include trans women, non-binary women, disabled women, women of color or else WE CANNOT GROW TOGETHER. HUMANITY CANNOT EVOLVE.
As part of ASMR Crafting with Sayuri and Gabby La La, Gabby and I are manufacturing our own art currency during the month of March. In our weird way, we heckle the $100 bill, which features Benjamin Franklin – prominent colonialist slave-owning ‘founding father’ of the United States. We believe that is is very wrong to promote the myth that America was built by great men. By updating the $100 bill, we address the inherent inequalities that his country was founded on. Moreover, by creating our own currency (called RAINBOZ) with our faces on it, we play with the idea of creating alternate value systems in which WOC artists shape the future and make history.
